Culture and history

On Ingmarsö there is a mission house built in 1904 that is taken care of by the Ingmarsö Free Church Congregation. Church services, concerts and other events are organized in the mission house. Just like many other associations on the island, the operation depends on voluntary contributions (Gift to Ingmarsö Mission House, plusgiro 414 03 62-7 Membership fee to Ingmarsö Free Church Congregation, SEK 100 per year)

Homeland Museum

What will you find in our museum?
In addition to old fine things from a bygone time on our islands, you will find here the stories of the islands and their people – strong, wind-bitten and stubborn people, who fought against storms, Russian ravages, wars and long, black winter nights. Here you will find  stories about the joy and initiative that have become a hallmark of the islands.

The story begins in the Viking Age.

At Brottö, archaeologists have found traces from this time, and as early as the 1640s Norrgården was mentioned on one of the maps of the newly established land surveying office. All this and up to today's date, you can see and read about on the Timeline in the museum. Here are the school, the mission house, the dance floor, the strawberry farms, the summer guests and the boarding house.
